Introduction to Modulation and The Speech Envelope

What is Modulation?

Modulation is a modifying or controlling influence on something. In the figure below, the modulation is happening to the amplitude of the sine signal A. The modulating sine wave B gives rise to the amplitude modulated waveform in C.
