Centre for Neuroscience in Education

Maria Alfaro is a Research Assistant for the Centre for Neuroscience in Education. She is currently working on the BabyRhythm Project.

Maria has an MSc in Computational Neuroscience and Neuroengineering from Université Paris Saclay. Her thesis explored the effects of different anaesthetic agents on cortical communication in the context of normal and abnormal consciousness. This was done at the UNICOG neuroimaging unit at NeuroSpin, using recordings directly from the cortex obtained with chronically implanted Utah arrays.
Before this, Maria obtained her BA in Neurosciences from the University of Oxford. Her undergraduate thesis was written about work she undertook in the Taub Institute at the University of Columbia, investigating retinal angiogenesis.
