Laura completed her PhD in 2014 under the joint supervision of Dr. David Whitebread from the Faculty of Education and Dr. Denes Szucs from the Department of Psychology, University of Cambridge. She investigated the relationship between self-regulation abilities and executive functions, and more particularly the relationship between emotion regulation and inhibitory control in children. The research involved both psychophysiological methods (EEG) and behavioural assessments in school in order to form an overview of the relationship between emotion and executive functions. On completion of her PhD, Laura joined the Cambridge Prosociality and Well-Being Lab, Department of Psychology, after which she gained a lectureship at Bournmouth University teaching Educational Psychology and Eating and Behavioural Disorders and begins teaching in autumn 2016.
